Overview

The New River Gorge Bridge is one of the nation's best-known engineering landmarks, a steel arch bridge of more than 3,000 feet that rises roughly 800 feet above the New River. It replaced a long descent and climb along narrow mountain roads, and is the centerpiece of the park. See it from overlooks, hiking trails, or the river below. Each October, Bridge Day turns the span into a hub for BASE jumping and celebration.
