From Atlanta, GA (27 mi): Take I-75 N to exit 273 for Wade Green Road. Turn left onto Wade Green, then right onto Jiles Road. Continue to Cherokee Street and turn left to reach the museum.

Overview

The Southern Museum of Civil War and Locomotive History in Kennesaw explores how railroads shaped the Civil War. A Smithsonian Affiliate, it is home to the famous General locomotive, the centerpiece of the Great Locomotive Chase of 1862. The 50,000-square-foot museum, founded in 1972, also has archival collections, a model train area, and a hands-on children's area.
