From San Antonio (1 mi): Head toward downtown San Antonio, follow signs to Hemisfair, and continue to 739 E Cesar E Chavez Blvd at the base of the tower.
Overview
The Tower of the Americas is a 750-foot observation tower built as the centerpiece of HemisFair '68, San Antonio's World's Fair, and it's still the tallest structure in the city. Designed by local architect O'Neil Ford, it held the title of tallest observation tower in the United States from 1968 until the Las Vegas Stratosphere surpassed it in 1996.
A ticket covers the observation deck near the top, which delivers panoramic views over downtown, the missions, and the Hill Country beyond. The tower also houses a slowly rotating Chart House restaurant and a 4-D "Skies Over Texas" film experience covering the state's history.
