From Tulsa (55 mi): Take I-44 east along the Turner Turnpike to the Stroud exit, then follow Main Street into downtown where the cafe is located in the historic business district.

The Rock Cafe has been welcoming travelers along Route 66 since 1939 and remains one of Oklahoma's most celebrated roadside dining destinations. Constructed from locally sourced sandstone gathered during the paving of Route 66, the distinctive building has become a landmark for generations of motorists crossing the state. Inside, visitors find a warm atmosphere filled with Route 66 memorabilia, historic photographs, and reminders of the cafe's long connection to America's most famous highway.

The restaurant gained international recognition through its connection to Pixar's Cars, as owner Dawn Welch served as an inspiration for the character Sally Carrera. Despite suffering a devastating fire in 2008, the cafe was carefully restored while preserving much of its original character, including its historic stone walls and iconic grill. Today, guests stop for hearty comfort food, homemade specialties, and a genuine taste of Route 66 hospitality while experiencing a living piece of Oklahoma history.
