Overview
Lan Su Chinese Garden in Portland's Chinatown is a walled classical Chinese scholar's garden, built in 2000 by artisans from Suzhou, Portland's sister city (its name joins "Lan" for Portland and "Su" for Suzhou). It takes up a city block, and about 90 percent of the plants are native to China. There are covered walkways, bridges, a lake, and pavilions, and a tea house serves tea and dim sum.
Highlights
- Tower of Cosmic Reflection: a two-story pavilion overlooking the lake
- Flowers Bathing in Spring Rain: a waterside pavilion
- Painted Boat in Misty Rain: a boat-shaped pavilion
- Moon Locking Pavilion and the Celestial Hall of Permeating Fragrance: a scholar's studio
