Overview

Vista House at Crown Point is an octagonal observatory built in 1916-18 as a memorial to Oregon pioneers and a comfort station on the Historic Columbia River Highway, in a Jugendstil (German Art Nouveau) style by Edgar Lazarus, with marble, stained glass, and a small museum. It is 733 feet above the Columbia River, with views up and down the gorge. The state Department of Transportation owns it, and it is on the National Register of Historic Places (1974). It is open daily in season, with a gift shop and coffee counter.
