Overview
USS Constitution ("Old Ironsides") is a wooden three-masted heavy frigate launched in 1797, the world's oldest commissioned naval vessel still afloat. She earned her fame in the War of 1812, defeating five British warships (HMS Guerriere, Java, Pictou, Cyane, and Levant). She is berthed in the Charlestown Navy Yard at the end of the Freedom Trail, where active-duty Navy sailors give free tours, and next door is the USS Constitution Museum.
