Overview
Park Street Church, founded in 1804 and built in 1809, is an active evangelical church at Park and Tremont streets, next to the Granary Burying Ground, and a Freedom Trail stop. It was called "Brimstone Corner" for its fervent preaching (and, some say, gunpowder stored in the basement in the War of 1812). William Lloyd Garrison gave an anti-slavery address here on July 4, 1829.
