Overview
Dorchester Heights is the highest point in South Boston, with views of the harbor and downtown, where Washington's forces placed cannon in March 1776 and forced the British to evacuate Boston, an early American victory. The 40-acre Dorchester Heights Historic District (National Register, 2001) surrounds Thomas Park.
